Caspar Silk V Neck
Craft and Origin
Atelier Saman Amel knitwear has been produced by the same family in the region of Umbria, Italy, for close to a decade. The region is known for its rich history and local expertise in knitwear and production of yarns. Located tucked away amongst rolling landscapes of agricultural land, the knitwear laboratorio works on century old machines that are hand operated and a majority of the work on the garments are made completely by hand.
The single unit production approach - producing each garment individually as opposed to mass production - ensures that every garment is made with purpose and with a “zero vision” for over-production otherwise commonplace in the clothing industry. With the laboratorio now running self-sufficiently on solar energy, the operation is to be considered fully circular.
Yarn and Materials
Yarns and materials sit at the core of the Atelier Saman Amel product philosophy - the design starts with the fabric and develops from there. For the Resort SS26 ready to wear edit, silk has been used as a theme throughout the collection. The emphasis on silk as opposed to linen or other qualities associated with Summer wear derives from its unique ability to combine leisure drape and wool wear with an unmistakably luxurious hand touch and luster. The knitwear included in the Resort SS26 ready to wear edit are made up in a unique yarn where the thread itself has a rugged finish, making the sweater softly brushed and textured. While the knit has a substantial weight, the fabric is loosely knitted which allows air to travel through naturally making it optimal for Summer wear.
