All Atelier Saman Amel jackets are made in Italy and carry the elegant softness synonymous to the Italian tailoring tradition combined with a Scandinavian sense of classic proportions and subdued palettes. Ateliers
Atelier Saman Amel offers two different lines of production, separated by the hours spent producing them. One made entirely by hand and requires ‘35 hours’ of handwork (Napoli) and one is hand finished and takes ‘22 hours’ to complete (Toscana). The additional handwork on the ‘35 hours’ jacket is predominantly focused on hand padding the canvas and collar. This handwork provides additional shape that molds with usage to the critical parts of the jacket - most notably added softness to the shoulder, chest and lapel.
While similar in design and fabric selections, the handwork sits inside the garment and manifests itself through superior comfort and subtle nuances appreciated increasingly over years of wear.
Craft and Origin
All Atelier Saman Amel jackets are made by hand in Italy. With true commitment to craft, each jacket is produced by specialized craftspeople whose daily work continues a generational tradition of Italian tailoring. From receiving the order, crafting the unique pattern, working throughout the numerous steps of sewing, finishing and pressing to final delivery each step is conducted without the time pressure of modern industrial production.
The family owned tailoring houses that have been producing Atelier Saman Amel jackets for over ten years have a commitment to social responsibility and sustainability throughout the production process that stands in stark contrast to conventional fashion industry practices. The single unit production approach - producing each garment individually as opposed to mass production - ensures that every garment is made with purpose and with a “zero vision” for over-production otherwise commonplace in the clothing industry.
Materials
