We are reading “The HI-group and the Return to craft” by Johan Örn. Published by ArkDes/Carlssons Förlag.
The HI-group was a collection of sixteen master craftsmen and interior designers who sought to bring a new life to Swedish furniture design during the first half of the 1960’s.

Members of the HI-group were not given to creating manifestos or inventing slogans. On the contrary, they were characterized by a rather modest approach as well as a profound conviction in the capacity of “quality” to market itself. It was in no sense a revolt against contemporary taste in domestic design. What the group was trying to achieve was a collaboration between master craftsmen (hantverksmästare) and interior designers (inredningsarkitekter) - hence the name HI-group.
